Different Shaped Kitchen Knife Blades

Why are some knives curved and others have holes in them or shaped in funny ways?

I’d say the curves are designed for specific tasks, such as working around vegetables, whilst the holes (more commonly with cheese) is so the cheese comes off the knife blade more easily.

These types of kitchen knives have been around for centuries, so you can be quite sure their design is to suit their purpose.
