Keeping Your Kitchen Knives Sharp

There are a lot of written guides on how to sharpen your knives, but I thought this was a particularly good video to show you the basics. The angle is one of the most important things to remember when using a steel, as is not trying to show off by sharpening them in an over the top way…most of us are not seasoned chefs who can get away with this.

Always remember that the longer your knives stay sharp, the better. Good quality kitchen knives will stay sharp on their own for some time, but it really does not take much to sharpen them up again. If, however, you use the sharpening steel incorrectly, you well end up damaging the blade considerably.
